Things to do when visiting Cape Town
As summer approaches and Cape Town rears its head from behind the storm clouds, the peninsula’s outdoors become a hive of activity. It doesn’t really matter what you enjoy doing, because there’s something for everyone! So without further ado, our list of things you simply have to try while visiting in the summer.
Spend the day on any one of the many beaches around the peninsula
Whether you feel like the bustle of Camps Bay, or the more laid back atmosphere on the southern side of the peninsula, you’re spoilt for choice in Cape Town. The Cape Point National Park has a number of smaller beaches for you to enjoy, and they offer a wonderful alternative to the ever-popular Clifton, Camps Bay, Muizenberg and Boulders beaches. Boulders is a wonderful idea for the family as the kids can get up close with the resident penguins and the gorgeously warm water of the shallows around Simonstown.
Indulge for an afternoon in the winelands
One of Cape Town’s biggest attractions is the surrounding winelands, and from Stellenbosch to Paarl and Constantia to the southern tip of the peninsula, there are a myriad of wine farms to enjoy. Wine tastings, lazy lunches in the sunshine and some of the best wines in the world await. If you’re a lover of fine tasting delights, you have to visit at least one wine farm while in Cape Town.
Spend the day outside, anywhere
Cape Town is a very unique city when it comes to outdoor activities. Hiking up Lion’s Head, in Tokai Forest, or up Table Mountain are but three of the most popular ways to spend a day in the Mother City’s great outdoors. Silvermine, en route to Cape Point, is a wonderful destination for a picnic as there’s even a damn for you to cool down in when the sun becomes a little too warm. Walk along the beaches, hike up the mountains, or simply stroll along one of the historic routes in the city itself, or along the Sea Point promenade for a truly Capetonian experience.
Those are a few of our favourite ways to spend a holiday in Cape Town, and with the Gardens Centre Holiday Apartments’ location, it’s easy to make your way around. So come and spend some time at our apartments and indulge in all of the summer delights Cape Town has to offer.
