Everything you want to know about the Gardens Shopping Centre

3 min read

Gardens Centre Holiday Apartments is located above the stunning Gardens Shopping Centre, meaning that all your needs can be met, and necessities obtained with one simple elevator ride! We’re here to tell you all about our favourite parts of the shopping centre and what you can look forward to.

Gardens is a mere 15-minute walk or 5-minute car ride from the 17th century fresh produce market, the Company Gardens, that provided both locals and passing ships with provisions. Now, everything you need is located within the shopping centre. Unlike many other malls in Cape Town, Gardens is a smaller hub, thus providing a more calm, relaxed, quiet, and intimate vibe. This is perfect if you aren’t looking to walk 15 minutes from your favourite shop at one end of the mall to your second favourite shop at the other end. By purchasing anything in Gardens, you are contributing to the local economy and keeping small, independent businesses alive – what’s not to love?

The centre sports around 85 specialised cafés, health and beauty stores, grocery shops, and arts and crafts providers. We’ll run you through our favourites!

If you are looking for a relaxed café to meet friends at, work, study, or just enjoy a cup of coffee, we recommend Ambeans, Bootlegger Coffee Company, or Vida E Caffé. For fresh produce, especially meat and biltong, head to Frankie Fenner Meat Merchant, Hartlief Deli, or J&M Biltong. You’ll find some of the best dried fruit and nits at Montagu Trading Company; or perhaps some French cheese from The French Market suits your fancy? Groceries can be bought at either Woolworths or Pick ‘n Pay.

The mall has a handful of clothing stores, including Old Khaki, Get Couture, and Sitting Pretty. If you would like to treat yourself, head over to Partners Hair Design for a new hairdo, Sorbet for a massage and manicure, and the Body Shop for luxurious bath products. To stock up on reading material, Wordsworth Books has got you covered.

Fabricate should be your first stop if you are looking to get any gifts, jewellery, ceramics, and curios for friends and family at home. And if you are looking for something for your own home, @Home, The Pause Room, and YuppieChef are your go-to stops.

There are also a number of services available in Gardens, like a carwash, a flower pop-up, medical and optometry services, specialist tobacco stores, and banking services. The parking at the mall is safe and undercover. The trading hours for the centre is 09:00 to 19:00 Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 17:00 Saturday, and 09:00 to 14:00 Sunday and Public Holidays. Individual stores may have different trading hours, so be sure to check specific stores to not be disappointed.

With about 320 000 customers moving through the mall each month, we can assure you that this is a favourite place for many locals and tourists alike. If you need any help or assistance finding the store you need, don’t hesitate to ask our friendly team at reception or one of the attendants in the mall. We can’t wait to welcome you to our comfortable apartments and see you shop till you drop!
